For the past sixteen years the primary focus of GREAT has been to increase the number of employed Onkwehon:we of the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. Today, GREAT is expanding services to ready to work skilled First Nation, Metis and Inuit people in the province of Ontario
In 2009, with the support of the Aboriginal Apprenticeship Board of Ontario (AABO) and their Members, Grand River Employment and Training – GREAT, located on the Six Nations Reserve in the Brantford area, was successful in securing funding for a regional initiative focused on connecting employers in the construction industry with Aboriginal Trades people in the province of Ontario. As a result GREAT is expanding services to ready to work skilled Aboriginal Trades people regardless of residency or affiliation.
Skilled unemployed or underemployed Aboriginal Trades people are encouraged to register with GREAT Labour Market Solutions centralized databank -- used to connect Trades people with Employers in the construction industry.
